SENIOR SYSTEMS SUPPORT ANALYST

General Functions
   Responsible for the installation, configuration and maintenance of enterprise infrastructure and all related systems and software. Analyzes client/server requirements to ensure systems meet performance needs. Recommends technology that will support and enhance enterprise infrastructure. May provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be a skilled contributor/specialist. Position requires the ability to function successfully in both team and independent work environments.

Work is performed with independence and initiative under the general supervision of the Systems Support Supervisor. Performance is reviewed through observations, conferences, reports and achievement of desired results.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Analyses and resolves problems associated with all aspects of the County technology infrastructure. Ensures scalability and appropriate integration with other systems.
  • Detects, diagnoses and reports problems on server and desktop systems.
  • Serves as the technical lead in the installation, configuration and effective operation of all end user systems and infrastructure.
  • Confers with customers to diagnose complex problems and apply solutions.
  • Under the direction of management, work individually and in teams, to recommend solutions to meet business needs.
  • Assists technical personnel in ensuring all end user platforms interconnect seamlessly with all infrastructure systems.
  • Analyzes system usage and plans for growth or increases in system capacity.
  • Creates, runs, and troubleshoots complex scripts, batch files, or installation procedures.
  • Performs proactive audits of systems and associated software to ensure proper functionality.
  • Performs maintenance of infrastructure systems software and hardware including system updates, patches and configuration changes.
  • Provides timely resolution and documentation of all system interruptions.
  • Analyzes system performance and recommends tuning measures for increased reliability of systems.
  • Implements policies for the use of computer systems and resources.
  • Coordinates efforts with technical staff, vendors, and customers to determine and resolve client issues. Designs backup and recovery procedures.
  • Evaluates current systems and assists in the planning of large scale systems projects. Oversees project implementations.
  • May assign projects and oversee IT Security Technician and IT Security Analyst I staff.
  • Implements technical specifications on the enterprise infrastructure.
  • Provides on-call support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science or closely related field and three years experience in enterprise infrastructure design, installation and/or maintenance or an equivalent combination of related education, training and experience.
 
Preferences
   Extensive knowledge of enterprise messaging systems and associated components.

Expert understanding of networking/distributed computing environments, the principals of routing, client/server programming, and the design of consistent network-wide file systems.
