PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

General Functions
  

The Production Supervisor will assist in developing procedures and protocols to streamline production for efficiency and cost reduction. This position would be responsible for all aspects of the shop in the absence of the Assistant Manager and for ensuring compliance with safety and professional standards.

Work requires independent judgment, discretion, and initiative to be exercised in carrying out daily activities. Work is reviewed based on accuracy, timeliness, and effectiveness of results and goals achieved. This position will report to the Graphics Assistant Manager or Designee.

 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  

Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.

  • Produces job requests per client specs such as but not limited to color copies, large format posters, mounting, finishing, and digital forms.
  • Contributes to the graphic design workflow by laying out production art, such as but limited to, business cards, letterhead, and forms.
  • Supervises unit staff in the performance of their specific duties; prioritizes, assigns, and monitors tasks and projects.
  • Assists the Graphics Manager with the development of strategic plans, policies, standards, and procedures for Graphics operations. Ensuring compliance with safety and professional standards within the Graphics shop and Copy Center.
  • Performs administrative supervisory responsibilities to include disciplining, training, counseling, and evaluating all assigned staff. Assisting in the recruitment and onboarding of new hires.
  • Prepares work plans and work schedules and monitors the progress of projects. Evaluating various stations of the production operation to ensure optimum efficiency.
  • Interacts and coordinates with vendors and obtains quotes for purchases and work orders. Communicates exacting specifications to commercial printers and is the liaison between vendor and client.
  • Processes mailing requests for clients - reviewing parameters, submits work to USPS personnel for review and approval, and coordinates with mail fulfillment house in the execution of departmental mass mailings.
  • Coordinates delivery of completed orders to meet deadlines for both Copy Center and Print Shop.
  • Manages and oversees all aspects of the shop in absence of the Manager.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in Commercial Art or closely related field and three (3) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of commercial high-volume printing plus one (1) year of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience

 
Preferences
  

Bilingual

Computer programing

Ability to create ADA accessible documents

Must be proficient in Adobe Acrobat, In-Design, Illustrator and Photoshop, Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Publisher, can work on both PC and Mac computers.
