General Functions |
|
This key position is responsible for the pickup, delivery, and service of wildlife and domestic animal traps, for the care of impounded animals, and the cleaning of traps, vehicles and related equipment used in the field. Provides extensive customer support to citizens in the field.
Work is performed with considerable independence and judgment under general supervision. Work is reviewed and evaluated for satisfactory performance. |

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
- Responds to service requests regarding traps and trapped animals. Impounds trapped animals and resets traps. Picks up traps when service is completed.
- Collects and handles trap return fees from citizens. Provides information to citizens regarding trap policies, procedures, and other animal related issues.
- Handles domestic and wildlife/high risk rabies carriers. Completes impound process at shelter of animals trapped in the field. Assesses animals’ condition and refers animals with health issues to shelter veterinarian for review and treatment.
- Completes and processes paperwork and documentation in Chameleon software as required. Prepares accurate detailed reports as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year experience working with the public. An equivalent combination of education or experience may be substituted.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License. |

Preferences |
|
Knowledge of procedures for the care and humane treatment of animals.
Experience in handling or restraining large and/or dangerous animals using animal control equipment.
Experience in using a computer and related animal services software. |
