BUILDING COORDINATOR

General Functions
  

This position is responsible to provide oversight and supervision for the following five customer service areas: Permitting, Records, Contractors Licensing, Plans Coordination and Inspections Support. The position also interprets and administers Division regulations in accordance with applicable state and local ordinances.

This position may be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  

Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.

  • Provides oversight and supervision for five customer service areas.
  • Manages the day-to-day office operations including direct supervision of the Senior Permit Analysts and Permit Analysts on the processing of permits, licenses and other related divisional operations.
  • Serves as the divisional representative for coordination of county-sponsored programs, i.e., incentive and recognition programs.
  • Implements divisional and departmental policies and procedures such as employee relations, training, retention and benefits issues.
  • Assists with documentation needed to administer corrective/disciplinary actions to include predetermination hearings.
  • Prepares reports from data on staff productivity as it relates to customer assistance, service times, and telephone activity.
  • Prepares presentations for various projects and committees.
  • Coordinates activities with other divisions, business/property owners, contractors and design professionals in order to accomplish goals and complete tasks.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and three (3) years of supervisory experience in a customer service capacity. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

This position requires extensive experience and knowledge of Permitting business rules and operating systems to include: Permitting system, Customer Sign-In system, and Permitting Member services.

 
Preferences
  

A degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Management or a closely related field.

Supervisory experience in the construction industry or building inspection/plans review.

Demonstrated computer literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft applications, Adobe Acrobat and ability to learn new technologies.

Experience working in a high volume, fast paced, multi-tasking office environment.
