General Functions
   Assists the Executive Director in the overall management of the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) with an emphasis placed on safe and efficient operations. Responds to the needs of outside business and tourism organizations. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination budgeting and evaluation of assigned divisions
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Assists in the day-to-day management of the OCCC. Coordinates and implements operating procedures for the Executive Director.
  • Works directly with the Capital Planning section and designated project teams and architects to implement approved building projects and programs.
  • Establishes and communicates policies and procedures for the safe operation of the OCCC to staff, tradeshow and meeting clients and service partners.
  • Communicates and interacts with OCCC divisions to integrate client requirements with safe operation and maintenance of OCCC facilities.
  • Participates in convention industry organizations/associations to keep abreast of trends that impact the OCCC facilities.
  • Conducts research and studies on the OCCC organization and operations. Prepares reports with recommendations on best practices. Develops workflow systems to eliminate redundancy and expedite results.
  • Fosters a culture of efficient operations and a positive learning environment for employees.
  • Assesses skills and abilities of key staff in order to develop a thorough and evolving succession plan.
  • Responds to the needs of the Board of County Commissioners and to outside business and tourism organizations, such as the Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Hotel/Motel Association and the Chamber of Commerce.
  • Serves as liaison to City, County, State and other agencies and authorities.
  • Assumes duties and responsibilities of the Executive Director in their absence.
  • Meets the Center of Hospitality (CoH) standards.
  • Performs other duties of a comparable level as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Business or Public Administration or a closely related field and five years management experience in the hospitality industry.
 
Preferences
   Experience in working with community businesses and visitor and tourism organizations.

Specific knowledge of national or international trade shows, associations, or conventions.

Strong interpersonal, communication, customer service and problem solving skills.
