SENIOR PERMIT ANALYST

General Functions
  

Serves as a Team Lead, performing complex clerical and technical work in the permitting, inspection, and plan submittal process for customer service areas such as Permitting, Records, Contractor Licensing, Plans Coordination, and Inspection Support. Work is performed according to guidelines and instructions from the Building Coordinator or Administrator, with the ability to make independent judgements and initiatives.

Work is performed with considerable independence under the supervision of designated supervisor or manager. Performance is reviewed through observations, reports and results achieved.

This position may be required to assist with emergency support functions in the event of a declared emergency and/or any other emergency duties as assigned.

 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  

Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.

  • Trains and oversees permit staff to ensure consistent and uniform implementation of departmental policies and code requirements as it relates to the issuance of permits.
  • Provides technical and general support regarding complex permitting requirements and processes to the permitting, plans review and inspection teams to include calculation and audit of permitting fees.
  • Responds to and assists in the resolution of development-related inquiries and complaints.
  • Assists with administrative tasks such as answering phones, communicating by email, chat, and video conferencing.
  • Coordinates work efforts with other sections, county departments and public agencies.
  • Communicates effectively (both verbally and in writing) with the general public while discussing and explaining departmental policies.
  • Receives and responds to customer inquiries, requests for assistance and complaints.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

Graduation from high school or equivalent and three (3) years of technical/clerical experience involving the reading and writing of legal descriptions, or reviewing construction documents or processing permit applications, to include one (1) year of permit analyst experience, or equivalent combination of education, training or experience.

Permit Technician Certification from the International Code Council
