General Functions |
|
This is a highly responsible supervisory position at the Orange County Convention Center that involves the operation and supervision of employees that perform janitorial, housekeeping, and waste removal duties. Directs and inspects the cleaning and care of County buildings and ensures that proper safety, sanitizing, and approved cleaning practices are utilized.
Work is performed with independence under the general supervision of the section supervisor. Performance is reviewed through observations, reports and results achieved. |

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
- Leads, trains, and staffs to ensure that the Global Bio-Risk Advisory Council (GBAC) cleaning, sanitizing, disinfecting practices are adhered to, and exercised in the daily operations of the environmental services staff.
- Plans and prepares janitorial and environmental services work schedules to ensure proper staffing levels for daily workloads and in support of convention center staff, events and shows. Ensures the proper restroom staffing level is provided in accordance with the event contractual requirements.
- Plans, coordinates, staffs, and submits delivery orders to the waste removal Term Contractor for the removal of garbage from the event and show floors. Supervises Environmental Services cleaning crews for the timely removal of garbage from the show floors to the loading dock dumpsters.
- Prepares reports such as: accident reports, employee performance evaluations, inspection reports, disciplinary documentations, payroll and attendance records, inventory requisitions, monthly usage reports, work orders, activity records and personnel records.
- Ensures equipment and supplies such as carpet cleaning equipment, exhibit hall scrubbers, trailer-mounted and portable pressure washers are properly maintained and stored.
- Responsible for maintaining and monitoring restroom consumable inventory (restroom paper products, cleaning chemicals, soaps and sanitizers, pans, brooms, mops, etc.) ensuring items are fully stocked.
- Uses payroll and attendance software application to schedule and pay employees. Ensures that all personnel payroll information is reviewed and ready for submittal prior to the end of the 2-week pay period.
- Schedules cleaning, exhibit hall scrubbing and meeting room carpet cleaning. Plans and prepares for all building, sidewalk, and elevated walkways exterior pressure cleaning of the whole campus.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of experience performing custodial work/janitorial services at an industrial or governmental institution and/or commercial buildings to include three (3) years of team lead or supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License. |

Preferences |
|
Experience in the Hospitality Industry, such as hotels, hospitals, schools, conventions, or theme parks.
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Experience with commercial cleaning practices, waste removal, and the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) cleaning practices.
Knowledge and support of largescale recycling and organic food composting operations. |
