General Functions |
|
This position manages and provides direction for in-house or contracted staff in all phases of building security and life safety for the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC), assuring compliance with Orange County goals and objectives. This person is responsible for all supervisory and administrative duties directing the security and life safety functions in designated buildings. Must also support the mission of the Security Division by developing, implementing and maintaining policies and procedures for life safety, fire detection systems, and physical security for the Orange County Convention Center attendees, clients, guests and employees. Ensures traffic/dock operations are synchronized in accordance with event activity. Work is performed with considerable independence and requires excellent communication, collaboration and coordination skills. |

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
- Supervises full-time and on-call security staff, including but not limited to selection, training, scheduling, monitoring independent work progress and providing technical, administrative and operational assistance and guidance to security staff.
- Oversees security operations, ensuring policy compliance and enforcing security and fire/safety regulations.
- Works with members of outside agencies including the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Highway Patrol, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Corporate Protection Teams, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Treasury Department, State Department and the Secret Service to formulate policies, procedures and programs relating to the security and safety issues affecting the Convention Center.
- Reviews and approves all external security plans and responds to clients requests.
- Administers and controls a multi-million dollar dynamic messaging system (DMS) for parking and freight operations.
- Ensures all freight dock, dock basin and roadway policies and procedures are enforced.
- Conducts presentations and security briefings to clients and senior management staff.
- Prepares and manages the operating budget for the security section.
- Reviews incident reports for adherence to established procedures and ensures that preventive and/or corrective measures are taken when necessary.
- Coordinates, schedules and monitors various security and safety systems’ tests and inspections.
- Meets the Center of Hospitality (CoH) standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, or closely related field and four (4) years of security/safety experience, to include three (3) years of supervisory experience involving security, public safety, or transportation or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, or experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and possess a valid Florida Driver’s License within six months of hire. |
