General Functions |
|
Manages the day to day operations for the center including, maintenance, engineering, environmental services, sustainability, warehouse operations, CMMS operations, HVAC and set-Up to ensure the most effective and efficient operation of the facility.
Work performed with considerable independence under the general guidance of the Deputy Director and reviewed through events, conferences, reports and results achieved. |

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
Duties may vary based on area of assignment:
- Plan, manage, and monitor activities of staff performing Facility Operation functions such as life safety, engineering, maintenance, building cleaning, HVAC and Capital Improvement Project functions or Event Operations functions by providing services such as technical services, rigging, set-up/take down, electrical, water, gas, steam, air for exhibitors, show managers, and patrons.
- Review and approve purchase requisitions for the acquisition of materials required for the timely completion of projects, analyze specifications, review prices, meet with sale representatives and verify equipment availability.
- Develop and monitor the Operations division budget consistent with County and department objectives including necessary expenditures for existing and projected building renovations and improvements, make recommendations for major projects, and forecasts of equipment and staff requirements.
- Responsible for various personnel matters including hiring, discipline, training, employee development, performance appraisals and related activities.
- Coordinate construction and renovation activities with daily events within the Convention Center. Monitor scheduled events against plans for capital improvements of the facility.
- Initiate necessary procedures to acquire service contracts from outside contractors. Develop specifications for service contracts and manage contractor performance.
- Supports the Center's mission of outstanding client service by attending site visits, pre-convention meetings and other client meetings ensuring compliance with the Center of Hospitality (COH) standards.
- Promotes and supports the convention industry locally, nationally and internationally through association membership, educational presentations and interaction with other exhibition facilities.
- Perform other related duties and completes special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with a degree in Engineering, Construction, Public Administration or related field and six years of progressively responsible experience in the operation of a large facility, including four years of supervisory experience. |

Preferences |
|
- Professional Engineer (PE) License for the state of Florida preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Office skills including word processing and spreadsheet and presentation software.
