General Functions |
|
This position works directly with the Orange County Convention Center Executive Team, the Client Advisory Board (CAB), the International Drive Resort Area Stakeholders, County Administration as well as the Mayor and Board of County Commissioners (BCC) to gauge and address the needs of the OCCC Campus, with a focus on transportation.
Work is performed independently with minimal oversight under the general direction of the Executive Director and performance is reviewed evaluated through conferences, observations, reports and achievement of desired results.

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
- Serves as a liaison to the International Drive Resort Area (IDRA) Stakeholders and tourism industry representatives on behalf of Orange County and the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC).
- Serves as an extension of the OCCC Executive Team regarding projects and needs external to the Convention Center Campus which directly impact the OCCC.
- Provides leadership in defining a short and long term vision for the IDRA and provides oversight of strategic visioning and planning efforts.
- Identifies best practices and evaluates existing successful models to position the Convention Center District for growth and development in support of the OCCC.
- Serves as a project manager for the OCCC Master Planning effort.
- Communicates regularly with the Mayor, Board of County Commissioners, County Administrator, OCCC Executive Team, County departments and external stakeholders to gain input and provide updates regarding the vision and status of implementation efforts.
- Advises on policy matters impacting the Convention Center District and serves as an advocate for the district and the OCCC.
- Creates and participates in external forums that provide opportunities for stakeholder engagement in matters impacting the OCCC, including Efficient Transportation for the Community (ETC), International Drive Resort Area Chamber of Commerce (IDRACC), International Drive Master Transit and Improvement District (IDMTID), Visit Orlando, CAB, etc.
- Provides oversight of the International Drive Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) transportation program.
- Participates with OCCC management and sales teams in presentations to current or prospective clients to market the OCCC and the district for future business.
- Oversees the transportation section of the OCCC ensuring mobility of bus shuttles, taxis, and personal vehicles during event move-in, show and move-out.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Public Administration, Business Administration, Civil Engineering, Political Science or other closely related field and six years of experience in regional transportation initiatives or transportation planning or closely related field to include two years of supervisory experience. |

Preferences |
|
Master's Degree from an accredited institution in specified areas of study.
Experience involving the coordination of multiple complex and/or controversial projects and programs in transportation.
Experience in the hospitality and tourism industry.
American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Certified
