General Functions |
|
These positions function as part of the Orange County Regional History Center Education Team and play key roles in providing school, family and/or adult programs. The general function of each position will vary based on area of assignment:
Adventures in History - Responsible for overseeing Children and Family programming.
Curriculum Coordinator - Responsible for creating and promoting students' ability to think and create in an integrated curriculum.
Volunteer and Intern Coordinator - Responsible for overseeing the museum's volunteer recruitment and management.
School Services - Responsible for overseeing the museum's school services.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Museum Curator or their designee and is evaluated on accuracy, efficiency and achievement of desired results.

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
Adventures in History:
- Oversees the development, implementation and evaluation of the History Center's children and family programming, both onsite and offsite.
- Assists in training programming staff and volunteers.
- Responsible for oversight of the programming budget.
- Responsible for the content of all related promotional materials for programs and assists with their design and distribution.
- Oversees and schedules program bookings and assists with all other educational bookings.
- Works with the Curator of Education to establish children and family programs and priorities.
- Researches and applies for applicable educational programming grants.
- Serves on various committees in order to develop positive relationships within the community.
- Participates in all education team planning and program development activities.
- Assists in other areas and performs other related duties as assigned.
Curriculum Coordinator:
- Responsible for creating, resourcing and developing an innovative, creative and progressive curriculum that meets State Standards for community, school services and children and family programs.
- Assists in training curriculum development staff and volunteers.
- Assists with educational bookings.
- Works with the Curator of Education to research the new trends in standards of teaching and learning including creating assessments to measure goals.
- Serves on various committees in order to develop positive relationships within the community.
- Participates in all education team planning and program development activities.
- Leads tours and participates in program delivery as required.
- Assists in other areas and performs other related duties as assigned.
Volunteer and Intern Coordinator:
- Responds to inquiries and coordinates with staff to find appropriate opportunities for volunteers.
- Responsible for hiring, scheduling and retaining volunteers to ensure continuous museum operations. Oversees the background checking process.
- Acts as primary point of contact for all volunteers and interns including managing scheduling requests.
- Maintains all statistics and reports relating to volunteer and intern hours and activities including final reports and intern status updates.
- Maintains all museum records and provides statistical reports as required.
- Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with volunteers to ensure a beneficial experience to the volunteer and the organization.
- Ensures all volunteers and interns adhere to organization policy and procedures.
- Participates in all education team planning and program development activities.
- Leads tours and participates in program delivery as required.
- Assists in other areas and performs other related duties as assigned.
School Services:
- Oversees daily onsite and outreach school and home school program operations.
- Assists in training school services program staff and volunteers.
- Coordinates with area schools to establish and maintain integrated curriculums.
- Responsible for oversight of the school services program budget.
- Responsible for the content of all related promotional materials for school services programs and assists with their design and distribution.
- Oversees and schedules school services bookings and assists with all other educational bookings.
- Works with the Curator of Education to establish school services programs and priorities.
- Researches and applies for applicable educational programming grants.
- Serves on various committees in order to develop positive relationships within the community.
- Participates in all education team planning and program development activities.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in History, Humanities, Museum Studies, Education or other closely related field and one year of experience in program management, development or coordination; or an Associate's Degree and three years of progressively responsible museum experience; or an equivalent combination of closely related education and experience. |
