General Functions |
|
Assists Manager with the overall supervision of the Roads & Drainage Division. Responds to complaints and inquiries from the public and other government agencies, oversees the assigned section(s) budget and handles disciplinary issues. Consults with the Mayor, County Commissioners, the County Administrator and other divisions and departments in order to resolve County Roads & Drainage issues.
Work is performed with independence and initiative under the general supervision of the Manager, Roads & Drainage. Performance is reviewed through observations, conferences, reports and results achieved. |

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
- Monitors job sites and work crews, provides technical direction and reviews daily job status reports related to the Construction, Heavy Equipment, Paving, Drainage, Operations/Maintenance and other related infrastructure maintenance.
- Provides instruction on operational methods, policies and procedures, material/equipment usage, and data collection processes.
- Reviews correspondence and inquires from other departments, government agencies and the public. Takes direct action or makes recommendations to the Division Manager when appropriate.
- Oversees personnel matters including hiring, discipline, training and development and performance appraisals.
- Develops and monitors budget and contract allocations. Approves bids and authorizes expenditures.
- Conducts meetings with suppliers, equipment dealers and other departments in order to obtain information relating to the operational requirements of the Division.
- Assists in the coordination of 24-hour emergency response. Plans review coordination, prepares presentations and trend analysis and cost analysis.
- Acts in absence of the Division Manager.
- Performs other duties of a comparable level as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Civil Engineering or closely related field and five years experience in road and bridge maintenance or construction, to include two years of engineering management supervisory experience.
Must possess registration as a Professional Engineer at time of hire or obtain a State of Florida Professional Engineer registration within six months of hire.
