General Functions |
|
Supervises and coordinates spray activities relating to right-of-way and aquatic chemical applications.

This is a responsible administrative and technical supervisory position, which coordinates the daily work activities of spray crews in the application of herbicides and/or pesticides

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
- Maintains appropriate license for the application of restricted chemicals for right-of-ways and aquatics from the State of Florida.
- Assures the proper formulation of herbicides and/or pesticides to achieve desired results.
- Prepares and submits reports relating to locations sprayed, chemicals applied and total acreage covered to the appropriate local and state government agencies.
- Coordinates with state officials regarding current regulations pertaining to the application of chemicals and new aquatic plant species in Florida waterways.
- Trains and counsels personnel on proper application procedures and safety practices.
- Plans and coordinates daily work activities for various spray crews.
- Investigates and responds to inquiries and concerns from citizens regarding alleged chemical misuse and/or improper application.
- Maintains records and prepares reports as required for department, local and state government use.
- Attends and participates in seminars and schools to maintain licenses required by the State of Florida.
- Repairs and adjusts computerized spray systems as needed.
- Maintains chemical inventory and applications records as required by Florida Statutes.
- Inspects areas that have been treated and makes necessary adjustments to applications to achieve desired results.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Graduation from high school or equivalent and five years of experience in the application of chemicals to include two years of supervisory experience.
Must possess and maintain a State of Florida Restricted use Pesticides Applicators Certificate as issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
Must possess and maintain State of Florida license in right-of-ways and aquatics chemical applications as issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
Must possess and maintain a Florida Department of Transportation Class "B" Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement.
