Performs a variety of skilled assignments using precise survey measurements, also performs various non-technical duties as assigned.
Distinguishing Characteristics of Work:
This is routine fieldwork in connection with a survey field crew.
An employee in a position assigned to this classification is responsible for maintaining most of the various survey items found in a crew truck. To include all the consumable supplies used by a survey crew. Various precise and rough measurements are performed. Work is performed under the supervision of a survey party chief, who evaluates performance based on accuracy in performing assigned duties.

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
- Clears brush with axes and machetes.
- Maintains survey crew vehicle, supplies and equipment.
- Make measurements with steel tape.
- Sets up targets and prisms using tripods and optical plummets.
- Holds the level rod for differential leveling.
- Assists other crew members as needed.
- Digs to locate buried property corners or utilities.
- Sets up safety devices for traffic controls and performs flagman duties.
- Acquires and develops knowledge of simple surveying instruments, equipment and practices.
- Applies basic mathematics in work with survey drawings.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Operator’s license.
Must have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and the ability to work outdoors, occasionally under adverse weather conditions.
