| General Functions |
| |
Performs a broad variety of skilled assignments of a responsible nature requiring the exercise of independent judgment in civil engineering related activities, inspection and GIS or AutoDesk duties.
Work is performed with considerable independence and the exercise of independent judgment under the general supervision of the department manager or other designated supervisor.

| Representative Duties /Assignments |
| |
- Tests and assists in recording and processing research-engineering data repair and fabricate test specimens, components and test apparatus.
- Reduces field survey notes, plots pipe and infrastructure alignment and reference points, benchmarks, right-of-way lines, drainage and underground cables, and shows proposed construction on plan and proposed grade line on profiles with elevation and stations.
- Performs complex technical assignments in field activities and construction layout, making and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, data analysis from field activities, or performing technical drafting work in preparation of a wide variety of plans, maps and other illustrative materials.
- Prepares drawings for such features as site, foundations, floor and roof plans, and for front, rear and side elevations and cross-sections through buildings.
- Direct and assign employees engaged in performing moderately complex functions.
- Prepares technical details pertaining to water and sewer design, reports and studies.
- Manages technical data from OCU crews or contractors to assist with operational assessments, needs and life cycle analysis.
- Performs related work as required.

| Minimum Qualifications |
| |
High School Diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of engineering experience in area specified by department; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

| Preferences |
| |
Two (2) years of experience/education in general civil engineering technology. |
