TECHNICAL RECORDS MANAGEMENT SUPER.

General Functions
   Develop, implement and monitor the Technical Records Section of the Public Works Department in accordance with State and Federal Guidelines. Provide high level of access to records and information needed t support the Public Works operation through the plan files; record files and the Public Works Library.

Distinguishing Characteristics of Work:

This is administrative and supervisory work directing the staff and functions of an office or division. An employee in a position assigned to this classification of work is required to be well experienced in all aspects of the types of operations of a Public Works Department.

General guidance and supervision is received from the Manager of Engineering and is reviewed for progress through conferences, records, and reports of results achieved by staff.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Supervises, plans and directs work of staff, reviews and evaluates work performed.
  • Develops and revises administrative procedures to assure improved performance of the Records Management Section.
  • Interviews applicants for employment and recommends selection of applicants.
  • Supervises training of new employees in the technical functions and operations of Records Management for the Department.
  • Accesses and interprets construction plans, specifications, plats and other technical contract documents.
  • Implements problem solving techniques to assist the public and County personnel in obtaining records and information.
  • Administers record retention and disposal schedules.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree and two years of administrative experience in a technical division.

Must have the ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, plats and other technical contract documents as they relate to technical functions.
