General Functions |
|
This position performs supervisory functions in implementing behavioral and mental health services in accordance with Head Start Program Performance Standards, Head Start Act, current service contracts and standard operating procedures. Provides program staff with or options for obtaining mental health services according to the children and/or teacher need. Responsible for measuring goals and objectives of behavior support and coordinate Functional Assessments of Behavior. Implements classroom behavioral support services to assist the development of children's behavior and social/emotional skills.
Work is performed with considerable independence under the supervision of a Sr. Program Manager and is reviewed through conferences, records, file reviews, report and results achieved. |

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
- Oversees and supervises the activities of employees who are responsible for the development, implementation, and operation of the behavior and inclusion services.
- Oversees and supervises the coordination of children screening and evaluation services in the areas of behavior and disability services; including the coordination of outside professionals to ensure needed services are available.
- Works with individual teachers, groups of teachers and/or the entire staff on issues and factors that can affect the development and implementation of interventions such as: crisis intervention, learning and collaboration.
- Facilitates team meetings with the identified students teachers and parents for the purpose of completing a Functional Behavioral Assessment.
- Engages parents in the behavior intervention plans process and empower parents by providing skills and techniques to support the positive child behavior development.
- Trains staff in the behavioral and mental health services in accordance with Performance Standards, Head Start Act, current service contracts and standard operating procedures.
- Follows up on screenings/assessment indicating risk and provide consultation and training to teachers and/or families.
- Develops and assists in the implementation of plans and strategies to identify and support children with developmental, mental health, and social-emotional concerns for behavior and inclusion services in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, including the Head Start Performance Standards and standard operating procedures.
- Develops community partnerships that support the mental health and well-being of the children and families served. Accesses and distributes community health resources. Participates in community meetings related to mental health needs.
- Monitors, records data, prepares and submits monthly services reports in data management system.
- Works collaboratively to coordinate Health Service Advisory Committee meetings.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Master's degree from an accredited institution in Counseling, Health, Psychology, Human Services, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or closely related field and two (2) years of experience in human services, counseling the health field, childcare, special education or closely related area.
Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst within 18 months after hire. |

Preferences |
|
Knowledge of the Head Start Performance Standards, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and American with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations.
Experience with school-based behavior management.
Experience with ChildPlus software. |
