General Functions |
|
Responsibilities include utilizing technology to create high quality, creative photographs through extensive photojournalism experience and a thorough understanding of the concepts of generating compelling, story-telling pictures. Assist in the creation of new mediums of delivery of photographs considering County’s needs for slideshows, apps, and general photos to media, community publications and internal communication vehicles.
Work is performed with independence under the general direction of the Assistant Manager of the Communications Division and performance is evaluated for achievement of desired results.

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
- Operates various camera equipments to photograph people, events, and activities related to County programs. Photographs all official county events and Mayoral events on-site and ensures timely delivery of images/prints to the team for distribution.
- Takes studio style portrait photographs of the Mayor and elected officials for use in publications and displays.
- Meets with clients to identify their graphics needs, budget constraints, and reasonable deadlines for a project. Coordinates with departments for photography, administrative support for printing or outsourcing the printing of photographs and assist with special events.
- Produces photography materials for intranet and internet use, fliers, ads, brochures, logos, office signage, exhibits, audio/visual materials, videos and displays.
- Assists in successfully executing marketing campaigns for specific projects or departments through the use of strategic, cohesive photographic design elements, which may include branding concepts for the county that are related to logos, video, advertising, social media or print materials.
- Maintains graphics, videos and photographic library materials, including digital records. Catalogs photographs into department's archival databases.
- During an emergency, serves in the Essential Support Functions to promulgate approved public outreach messages using a variety of social media platforms or other web-based venues
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by conducting research; attending seminars, educational workshops, classes and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations.
- Provides training for department staff on photography.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Associate’s Degree from an accredited institution in Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Communication or a closely related field; or equivalent combination of education or experience and three years experience with digital photography and videography in a professional setting.
Advanced skill in Word, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Lightroom, PhotoShop and presentation software such as PowerPoint in both a PC and Mac environment.
Ability to work evenings, holidays and weekend.

Experience administering professional posts on a variety of social media platforms
Experience working for municipal government in a photo or video capacity.
Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
