General Functions |
|
This position provides graphic design and photography for the Communications Division of County Administration. This position also provides graphic art and design support to the Mayors Office, Board of County Commissioners and other county departments.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Manager, Graphics or Assistant Manager, Communications, depending on area of assignment, and is reviewed through meetings, conferences, reports, and results achieved.

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
Duties may vary based on area of assignment.
- Completes graphic design for annual reports, various department promotions and special graphic design requests from Mayors Office, Board of County Commissioners, etc. All must be in conjunction with Mayors Office requirements and overall County image and brand.
- Acts as layout artist for the County newsletter, brochures, and County web pages.
- Assists with the oversight of design, print standards and branding/style guidelines for Orange County Government and ensures the standards are current and available to team members and designers throughout the County.
- Provides art direction, graphic design advice and expertise to other members of team and ensures all work produced falls within regulations.
- Consults with customers on graphic design photographic and printing needs and recommends solutions.
- Evaluates printing needs, either using in-house support or an outside vendor and obtains quotes if necessary.
- Completes or oversees graphic design for custom logos, web graphics or any other print or web materials and invitation designs for Mayor and Board of County Commissioners functions.
- Performs occasional copy editing and proofreading tasks.
- Manages the Graphics document filing system to include but not limited to logos, district maps, county portraits and official signatures.
- Develops posters and displays for any County departments.
- Collaborates with staff photographer.
- Maintains and purchases software for Mac computers as needed. Advises other members of team on software changes and updates.
- Trains new graphic design employees and graphic artist contractors.
- Performs other related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Art, Fine Art, Graphic Design or a closely related field and three years of professional experience in the graphic arts field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the above education and experience.
Extensive knowledge of various printing processes, drawing, and painting; design theory, web design and photography.
Expert knowledge of graphic design software.
