General Functions |
|
This is highly responsible management and administrative work in planning, organizing and directing the activities of the Arts & Cultural Affairs Office and the Arts and Cultural Affairs Advisory Council. This is a highly visible public position bring arts and culture to the community. The employee initiates and facilitates collaborations and initiatives with numerous arts and cultural organizations. Supports and enhances the arts and cultural infrastructure of Orange County and advocates for financial investment from private and public entities.
Work is performed independently with general direction from the Deputy County Administrator. Performance is reviewed through observations, conferences, reports and results achieved.

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
- Supports efforts to implement programs (e.g. incubator programs) to serve the needs of fledgling arts and cultural organizations.
- Establishes funding guidelines consistent with Orange County policies and legal requirements regarding the use of Tourist Development Tax (TDT) revenues for arts and cultural initiatives.
- Acts as a liaison and facilitator with the Arts and Cultural Affairs Advisory Council, which oversees the investment of Orange County resources in arts and cultural initiatives.
- Coordinates with other community funding agencies for the development and management of the annual funding/proposal cycles for the use of TDT revenues.
- Provides oversight of contract administration of TDT revenues by United Arts of Central Florida.
- Prepares annual funding recommendations and annual report to the Board of County Commissioners.
- Promotes regional collaboration and coordination with arts and cultural leaders.
- Encourages collaboration among arts and cultural organizations to improve overall artistic excellence.
- Works closely with United Arts of Central Florida to seek funding from organizations and foundations.
- Oversees the maintenance and updating of an annual inventory listing to include all arts and cultural organizations and individuals in the four county metropolitan area that are providing services.
- Collaborates with the Convention and Visitors Bureau to develop regional marketing strategies in pursuit of state and federal funding for the arts.
- Acts as Orange County's chief liaison to the Tourist Development Council and tourist community regarding proposed projects to be funded with TDT revenues.
- Commissions art for new buildings and major renovations in cooperation with the Capital Improvements Projects department.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Art Administration or a closely related field and four years of experience in arts management.

Preferences |
|
Master's degree from an accredited institution in Art Administration or a closely related field.
Art management experience in a government arts agency or non-profit cultural organization.
Supervisory experience.
