General Functions |
|
Provides direction and management for the Inmate Administrative Services Division to include directing and overseeing activities related to the intake and release of inmates of the Correctional Department, as well as the appropriate housing of inmates and management of inmate requests, grievances and sanctions. This responsibility includes but is not limited to Pre-Trial Services, Inmate Records Management, Inmate Classifications, and Inmate Affairs. This position reports to the Deputy Director. |

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
- Manages personnel within the Inmate Administrative Services Division. Formulates goals and objectives for long and short term planning. Manages personnel actions and employee performance issues, develops and implements policy and procedures, fiscal management, etc.
- Directs and oversees the activities of subordinate management staff in the Division. Performs such supervisory duties as instructs, assigns and reviews work of others, maintains standards, coordinates activities, allocates personnel, acts on employee problems, selects new employees, and approves disciplinary actions, discharges, transfers, promotions, and salary increases.
- Ensures that the Pre-Trial Services, Inmate Records, Classification and Inmate Affairs units operate in compliance with established policies and standard operating procedures.
- Communicates regularly with the Courts and Law Enforcement regarding issues re the operation of sections.
- Serves as a management liaison with outside criminal justice agencies including Clerk of the Court, Judiciary and law enforcement.
- Develops and implements plans and goals for the division through positive communications with staff, outside agencies, and the general public.
- Receives, reviews, processes, files and/or submits a variety of documents and reports such as population reports, budget expenditure reports, and general letters of correspondence, etc.
- Participates as a member of the Departmental Management Team, responsible for the management of the department in areas of policy development, fiscal management, establishment of goals and objectives, communications, etc.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with course work in public administration, criminal justice, social services or a related field and five (5) years experience in a correctional environment, three (3) years experience in a management/supervisory capacity.
Must possess and maintain a State of Florida Class "E" driver's license.
