General Functions |
|
Performs specialized professional work in the planning, design, and development of County parks and recreation facilities and grounds, and provides direction and technical assistance to other employees. Responsibilities require a high degree of technical, creative and organizational skills.
Work is performed with independence judgement under the general direction of the Project Manager and is reviewed for compliance with division objectives and policies, professional standards for achievement of desired results.

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
- Performs professional, technical, and artistic work in providing plans, documents, reports, and other material required for complex planning, design, and development of County park and recreation facilities, as well as acquisition of parkland.
- Oversees and directs the preparation of park and recreational site plans, including construction documents, design drawings, irrigation and drainage plans, and landscape plans.
- Assists in the preparation of and administration of the Division’s Capital Improvement Program. Assists in the master planning and design of park and recreation facilities.
- Provides technical assistance to section and division personnel. May direct or assist in providing direction to lower level landscape architects, planners, and technical personnel.
- Directs and administers planting, naturalization, and reforestation programs and undertakes other related projects as directed.
- Conducts special studies and projects assignments related to park planning.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Landscape Architecture or closely related field and five years of experience in planning and design, preferably in recreation or park work.
Must possess registration with the Florida State Board of Landscape Architecture as a Landscape Architect.
