General Functions |
|
Responsible for planning, organizing, and facilitating recreational activities and programs for people of all ages, as well as the preparation of outdoor/indoor park facilities and spaces for public use. This position ensures that visitors have opportunities for recreation in a safe and inviting environment when utilizing Orange County Parks and Recreation facilities. Responsible for guiding and instructing part-time employees, subordinate team members, and volunteers.
Work is performed under the supervision of Site Supervisor or designated supervisor. Performance is reviewed through work-in-progress, conferences and results achieved. |

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
- Performs classes or recreational activities; conducts classes with program participants to include all age groups.
- Assists with parks, recreational facilities and building maintenance such as janitorial duties. Prepares indoor/outdoor facilities, park spaces, and athletic fields for use.
- Plans, implements and supervises daily recreational programs.
- Completes monthly schedules, to include after-school youth activities, classes, field trips, guest speakers, dances, games, etc.
- Trains, leads and evaluates part-time employees, subordinate team members, and volunteers. Supervises and schedules activities and plans for subordinate team members.
- Promotes all activities and programs through all forms of media.
- Collects fees and maintains records of moneys received. Conducts registration for programs using software and specialized system effectively. Supervises and/or conducts registration of classes.
- Maintains positive open communication between staff, parents and youth regarding their responsibilities.
- Maintains documentation regarding disciplinary actions.
- Conducts inventory and orders supplies.
- May represent the Parks and Recreation Division at designated meetings.
- Opens, closes and secures site.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Associate's degree from an accredited institution and two (2) years of experience in the Parks and Recreation field. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
Must obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid Certification within twelve (12) months from date of hire.
May be required to possess and maintain an Aquatic License.
May be required to possess and maintain a Certified Pool and Spa Operator Certification. |

Preferences |
|
A degree in Parks and Recreation, Recreation and Leisure Studies, Sports Management, or Early Childhood Education.
Possess Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) Certification through National Recreation and Park Association.
Experience in recreation programming.
Experience in youth and sport program leadership.
Experience in building maintenance and/or athletic field management.
Experience with aquatic facility operations and maintenance.
Six (6) months of experience as a Lead.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. |
