FIRE PLANNING & RESEARCH COORDINATOR

General Functions
  

Coordinates the development of long-term strategic planning efforts among all divisions within the Fire Rescue Department.

Work is performed with considerable independence within established department policies and goals. Work is subject to review by Division Manager through conferences, reports, and results obtained.

 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  

Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.

  • Coordinates and prepares the Department’s Annual Report.
  • Monitors and updates the Fire Rescue Element of the Comprehensive Plan.
  • Coordinates and tracks the Department’s performance measures.
  • Provides project management support for major Department initiatives such as accreditation, grant writing, and strategic planning.
  • Designs, implements, analyzes, and provides monthly/quarterly presentations of all statistical data to the Department and other governmental agencies.
  • Receives, researches, and responds to inquiries and requests for information relative to Department operations.
  • Designs and publishes online surveys as needed by Department personnel.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and one (1) year of experience in public administration, planning, research, and/or data analytics. A master's degree from an accredited institution may be substituted for the experience requirement. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

 
Preferences
  

Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include extensive experience with PowerPoint and Excel.

Proficiency with Adobe In-Design.

Experience with data analysis in a fire service agency.

Familiarity with survey methodologies.
