General Functions |
|
This is professional level work in supervising, planning and directing the administrative activities for Orange County Fire Rescue Services. Work is performed with independent judgment under the general supervision of the Deputy Director, Fire Rescue Services and is reviewed through observations, conferences, reports and results achieved.

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
- Directs and oversees the activities of the Fire Rescue Administrative Support Office.
- Provides support and recommendations to the Fire Chief and Deputy Director in the areas of recruitment, assessments and fire investigations regarding alleged acts of misconduct.
- Represents management’s position or serves as a hearing officer for grievances on behalf of management. Represents management in personnel matters such as mediations, arbitrations and EEOC.
- Works closely with union and management to resolve issues and concerns.
Advises and provides guidance and training to department supervisors regarding the administration of personnel investigations, grievances and discipline.
- Receives, assigns and coordinates internal and external complaints and investigations.
- Ensures adherence to policies, procedures, codes, standards, laws and regulations which pertain to the relevant areas of responsibility.
- Reviews and makes recommendations for process improvements, efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Reviews the work of staff for completeness, accuracy; evaluates and makes recommendations, offers advice and assistance as needed.
- Responsible for the preparation, oversight and monitoring of office budget and expenditures.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Public or Business Administration, Fire Science and Administration, or a Public Safety related career field and five years responsible managerial experience in a large fire/emergency response system; or an equivalent combination of related training and experience. |

Preferences |
|
State of Florida Firefighter certification and State of Florida EMT or Paramedic certification.
