General Functions |
|
Provides supervision, quality assurance and records custodial functions to a Medical Records Unit.
This is highly responsible administrative and supervisory position. This position provides quality control of records prepared by medical staff, which may include any medical, laboratory, investigative and other technical data. Ensures accuracy, completion and documentation of medical records. Coordinates with medical providers, related divisions, agencies, criminal justice system, public and private entities prior to submission and in the release of records and responses to subpoenas. Responsible for compliance with laws, rules and regulations, policies and procedures.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Manager or designee.

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
Supervises Medical Record staff. Assist with developing and administering policies and procedures regarding records maintenance, confidentiality, retention and release.
Trains all staff on policies and procedures as required by law.
Supervises compilation and recording of data through various methods including computerized systems. Reviews, analyzes and prepares activity, productivity and statistical reports as required and requested.
Provides information and quality assurance in the areas of record management and release of information, thereby ensuring compliance with Public Records Laws, Florida Statutes and other governmental regulations.
Performs liaison activities with medical staff, attorneys, law enforcement, other county departments, and other related agencies.
Performs other duties as required.
Correction’s Health Services
Claims Processing:
Is responsible for and ensuring the correct and timely submission, processing and verification of inmate medical claims. Works closely with fiscal and third party payers to ensure timely submission and payment to providers. Maintains logs of claims submitted and denied. Provides reports to administration and fiscal monthly on claims dollars and denials.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or an Allied Health Services degree or a degree in Medical Records Administration and three years experience within medical records setting.
Must have good oral and written communication skills. Must be proficient in Micro Soft Office.

Preferences |
|
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credentials with previous supervisory experience and leadership skills.
Knowledge of medical claims processing and verification
