General Functions |
|
Provides direct dental services to inmates at the Orange County Jail. Responsible for supervising and training dental staff, and training nursing staff in oral screening and triage.
Work is performed with independence under the general supervision of the Medical Director and Healthcare Administrator.

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
- Performs oral screenings and examinations to the inmates at the Orange County Jail.
- Diagnoses intra and extra oral conditions as required for each case.
- Performing extractions and treatments consistent with community standards of care and in adherence with the American Dental Association guidelines.
- Oversees Dental Infection Control Policies and Procedures.
- Uses radiographs for diagnostic purposes and to develop a treatment plan.
- Prescribes medication in accordance with existing formulary.
- Supervises dental staff which may include other dentists and dental assistants.
- Updates dental services written policies and procedures.
- Monitors the quality of provided dental services.
- Creates reports of dental services activities.
- Provides dental education to Corrections Health Services staff.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Requires State of Florida License to practice dentistry (DDS or DMD) and three years experience as a fully licensed dentist as stipulated by Florida State licensure OR must be able to obtain a DTC 141 temporary certificate to practice Dentistry at the Orange County Jail, pursuant to chapter 466, Florida Statues and Rule 64B5-7.0035, Florida Administrative Code and maintain a current License to practice dentistry and three years experience. |

|
Previous correctional experience preferred.
Computer knowledge to include experience using Microsoft Office software.
