General Functions |
|
Responsible for providing quality medical care to eligible residents of Orange County and inmates at Orange County Jail. Supervises and manages Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNP's) and Physician Assistant (PA's) and is responsible for ARNP protocols. Collaborates with administrative team on the medical management of eligible Orange County patients and inmates in need of medical care. Assists with the division's effort to provide quality medical care in a cost-effective manner consistent with budgetary and logistical considerations.
Work is performed with independence under the general supervision of the Medical Director and Healthcare
Administrator and is reviewed through conferences, records, reports, and results achieved.

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
Medical Clinic:
- Participates in professional and regulatory organizations to gain knowledge and provide input on advances and issues in the field of primary care.
- Leads the professional and paraprofessional staff in day-to-day duties as they relate to patient examination, assessment, and treatment.
- Works with the professional and supervisory team to meet the goals and vision of the division.
- Assists and provides feedback to ARNP's, PA's, volunteer physicians, and contracted providers.
- Assists Healthcare Administrator and Medical Director in evaluation of clinical health services employee productivity and effectiveness in meeting established job requirements.
- Provides, when requested, educational and informational in-services to Orange County employees, contracted providers, and community on the services and mission of Orange County Medical Clinic or Orange County Corrections Department.
- Supervises and manages Nurse Practitioners.
Corrections:
- Performs medical assessments, evaluations and treatments to the inmates at the Orange County Jail.
- Conducts daily sick call and chronic care clinics.
Orders, reviews and responds to all lab work and testing.
- Assists Healthcare Administrator and Medical Director in evaluation of Correctional Health Services employee productivity and effectiveness in meeting established job requirements.
- Assists in the division's effort to ensure that all aspects of the health delivery system are consistent with ACA, NCCHC, FMJS and other applicable standards.
- Provides, when requested, educational and informational in-services to Correctional and Correctional Health Services Staff.
- Supervises Nurse Practitioners and PA's.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Graduation from a school of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).
Must possess a current license to practice medicine in the State of Florida and currently Board Certified in Internal, Family Practice, Emergency Medicine or another board based Medical Specialty through an ABMS (American Board of Medical Specialties) approved Board.
Completed residency training in Internal, Family Practice, Emergency Medicine or another board based Medical Specialty from an ACGME approved training program.
