General Functions |
|
Directs and provides for the medical functions of Corrections Health Services in providing for the quality of care to inmates of Orange County Corrections Department. Reports to the Director of Health and Family Services and the Health Services Division Manager.

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
- Leads the physician, psychiatrist, dentist and ARNP staff in day to day duties as they relate to patient examination, assessment and treatment.
- Gives input to the nursing supervisor and manager as to training needs of clinical staff.
- Supervises and evaluates the Physician extenders (ARNP's).
- Establishes, evaluates and monitors medical protocols, policies and procedures, utilization of services and case management as they pertain to patient care.
- Responsible for the review of all medical care administered to the inmates including treatments by contracted providers.
- Assists Division Manager in providing, maintaining and updating quality evaluation systems for all phases of clinical employee performance to ensure high quality consistent work products.
- Participates in methods of evaluation of CHS Provider productivity and effectiveness in meeting established job requirements.
- Assists with budget preparation and ongoing assessment of the cost of delivery of care.
- Provides for educational CEU'S to staff on issues pertaining to medical care of patients.
- Participates in Professional and regulatory organizations to gain knowledge and provide input on advances and issues in the field of Primary Care.
- Performs other duties of comparable level as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Graduate of an approved school of medicine and possession of a current license to practice medicine in the State of Florida as required by the State of Florida Department of Health. Three years experience in the practice of internal, family practice or emergency medicine.
Board Certified in one of the above specialties of medicine.
