General Functions |
|
Responsible for planning and implementing an environmentally safe arthropod control program for Orange County. Ensures that all federal, state and local rules and regulations pertaining to public health and safety are followed to protect the public from pestilent, venomous and disease-carrying arthropods. |

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
- Develops and implements an effective, economical and environmentally safe mosquito control program.
- Provides accurate information to the public about mosquito diseases and their transmission.
- Develops goals and objectives for the division and monitors progress in achieving them.
- Ensures that all mandated safety measures are adhered to which govern pesticide application.
- Responsible for personnel actions including hiring, discipline, training and development, performance appraisals and related activities.
- Participates in continuing education on Public Health Pest Control and federal, state and county laws and regulations governing pesticides.
- Monitors expenditures and ensures quality products are purchased.
- Maintains an effective mosquito surveillance program and a disease and virus monitory systems.
- Maintains active professional memberships in Mosquito Control associations and subscriptions to publications about mosquito research, equipment, and pesticide performance to stay abreast of new technology.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or closely related field and five years of management experience in mosquito control.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Public Health Pest Control certificate. |
