MOSQUITO CONTROL OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR

General Functions
  

Performs specialized work involving the supervision of all aspects of mosquito control operations.

Works under the direction of the manager and is expected to exercise considerable independent judgment and to accomplish work with a minimum amount of supervision.

 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  

Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.

  • Supervises larvicide, adulticide, and surveillance operations and personnel.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the division’s control and surveillance operations and ensures all functions are being performed according to division guidelines and applicable regulations.
  • Assists in coordinating field evaluations of mosquito control products and application equipment.
  • Ensures all spray equipment is maintained and calibrated according to labeled specifications.
  • Conducts quality assurance evaluations and oversees the division’s safety program.
  • Reviews and assigns complaint investigations to the appropriate personnel as necessary.
  • Evaluates work performance and abilities of subordinates.
  • Assists with the development and monitoring of training protocols for division personnel.
  • Maintains records and compiles various reports related to inventory and control operations.
  • Tracks inventory and maintenance of county assets as required.
  • Monitors compliance with the federal NPDES permit program and maintains the division’s Pesticide Discharge Management Plan.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, the general public, and various government agencies.
  • Assists with monitoring and approving employee time and attendance records.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

High School or equivalence and three (3) years’ experience in mosquito control and two (2) years of supervisory experience as determined by department manager or an equivalence combination of education and experience.

Must possess a valid Public Health Pest Control certification issued by the State of Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.
