General Functions |
|
Manages the Automated Fuel System and related equipment for Orange County. Provides leadership in the Countywide Underground/Aboveground Storage Tanks Program, helping to insure compliance with Federal and State directives.
Distinguishing Characteristics of Work:
This is responsible supervisory and administrative work directing the operation of the County Automated Fuel Dispensing System and related equipment. Responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of the Orange County Automated Dispensing System base station and all satellite stations on a seven-days-a-week basis. Ensures that Fleet fuel facilities are in compliance with the State Department of Environmental Regulation and the Federal Environmental Protection Agency requirements.
Operates with considerable independence and must exercise sound decisions and good judgment in supervising the County fuel operations. Work is reviewed under the direction of the Assistant Manager through discussion and evaluation of reports submitted and results obtained.

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
- Manages the computer terminal system for fuel operation.
- Ensures a sufficient supply of fuel both for normal and emergency situations.
- Supervises all orders and fuel deliveries for the Fleet Management Division.
- Supervises the diagnosis, installation, and maintenance of all fuel equipment.
- Programs and updates the data system for the Series One Computer fuel system.
- Supervises the repair of the Fleet Water Reclaiming System and the vehicle washing facility.
- Supervises the procurement of all oils and greases.
- Evaluates alternative fuels for the County, i.e., natural gas, propane, reformulated gasoline, and electric vehicles.
- Communicates with system vendors and Orange County Data Center Technicians to solve related problems.
- Uses the Orange County Telecommunications data line system to solve malfunctions.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Graduation from high school and four years of mechanical/electrical experience.
Through knowledge of Department of Environmental Regulation and Federal Environmental Protection Agency directives pertaining to this field.
