General Functions |
|
Performs specialized work in the installation, repair and maintenance of traffic signs.
Distinguishing Characteristics of Work:
This is responsible work of a skilled nature involving the installation, repair and maintenance of traffic signs in accordance with established regulations, policies and practices.
Directs the activities of an assigned Traffic Sign Installer I.
Work is performed independently under the general supervision of the Sigh Shop Supervision and/or Foreman II, who evaluates performance, based on achievement of desired results.

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
- Uses hand power tools to remove or install sign posts.
- Uses hand or power tools to remove or install traffic signs.
- Read plans, sketches or maps to determine where and what types of signs must be placed.
- Maintains and inventory of standard signs and posts on truck for emergency installation.
- Periodically inspects traffic signs in assigned district to identify those that may need to be replaced or maintained.
- Takes and records field measurements of sign locations.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
High school graduation or equivalent and one year experience installing traffic signs.
Must obtain a certification in Work Zone Safety within one year of hire.
Must be willing and able to perform strenuous manual labor under adverse weather conditions.
Required to possess and maintain the appropriate valid Drivers License for the type of equipment operated.
Prefer knowledge of the county road system and familiarity with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
