General Functions |
|
The Maintenance technician performs a variety of maintenance, service, and repair tasks that may involve buildings, facilities, mechanical equipment, plumbing, electrical systems, or carpentry etc. utilized in the operations of the assigned divisions. Work is assigned and reviewed by a designated supervisor. Performance is evaluated through observation of work in progress and upon completion for achievement of desired results in a safe and efficient manner. |

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
- Inspects buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair making notes and recommendations using a pre‐established check sheet.
- Performs minor electrical and plumbing maintenance is not limited to replacement or repair of fixtures using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
- Performs minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).
- Reconfigures, installs, positions, and remounts’ modular offices and space to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies and hand trucks.
- Prepares the surfaces and paints various structures and equipment to preserve wood and metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe, comfortable working environment using various painting equipment and related tools.
- Assists HVAC Mechanics in the maintenance and repair of heating, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Graduation from a High school or equivalent and one (1) year of experience in skill trade, craft, or maintenance experience.
May be required to possess and maintain the appropriate valid Commercial Driver’s License for the type of equipment operated. Facilities Management Division: Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License by date of hire. |

Preferences |
|
Two (2) years of experience in Event, Facility, HVAC or Technical Services or equivalent combination of education and experience.
