General Functions |
|
Provides medical care, treatments, medication and clinical oversight in conjunction with medical providers to inmates at the Orange County Jail. Direct supervision is received from the nursing supervisor and staff physician who evaluate performance through observation, discussion, and review of reports and inspections. |

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
- Monitors medication administration timeliness per SOP, compliance by inmates and effectiveness of medications in accordance with established protocols. Reports and responds to variances in treatment regimens to the provider.
- Conducts a physical assessment in response to inmate complaints, establishes a nursing diagnosis and refers to the provider, and provides the treatment ordered.
- Conducts physical assessments, tests and sick call triage per SOP.
- Maintains unit compliance for inspections.
- Participates in in-service training and mandatory continuing education.
- Responds to all emergencies.
- Obtains samples and other specimens for laboratory examinations.
- Assists physicians in clinic areas.
- Provides routine clinic tasks as needed.
- Responsible for the assisting with education of staff on their units.
- Supervision of line staff and daily operations of the clerical areas.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Must possess a current Florida license as a registered nurse.
Must be able to work a variety of shifts; including nights and weekends.
Proficient in the use of computers. |

Preferences |
|
Surgical; One (1) year emergency or critical care nursing experience. |
