General Functions |
|
This position is responsible for assessment and treatment planning with clients at the Orange County Medical Clinic who seek substance abuse and mental health services. Performs a variety of related functions including conducting mental status evaluations of Orange County Medical Clinic clients referred for behavioral health services.
This position requires independent judgment and initiative and is performed under the general supervision of an assigned supervisor. |

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
- Conducts needs assessments based on psychosocial history and reviews medical charts to evaluate mental status of clients.
- Conducts group and/or individual counseling with clients who have substance abuse and mental health disorders.
- Conducts Mental Status Exams and assesses mental health via behavior, including verbal and nonverbal cues to diagnose clients accurately.
- Consults with case managers and other staff to provide recommendations relative to treatment, classification, housing, etc.
- Prepares case documentation, reports, or correspondence.
- Prepares and presents psychoeducational material to clients with a substance abuse/mental health disorder.
- Provides crisis intervention counseling or assistance, as necessary.
- Provides training and consultation to staff.
- Participates as a member of a multidisciplinary environment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy and two (2) years of professional experience providing direct clinical services in a social services or healthcare setting.
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Clinical Social Work or Mental Health Counselor License. |

Preferences |
|
Experience treating substance abuse and mental health disorders in community health clinics.
Experience using the current DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders). |
