CORRECTIONS ASSISTANT SHIFT SUPERVISOR

General Functions
   This position assists with directing and overseeing the functions and duties of a shift that is tasked with the intake, screening and release of inmates and with the processing of documents. Responsible for ensuring that all duties are completed in accordance with policies and procedures.

Work is performed, with limited supervision, under the direction of the Corrections Shift Supervisor.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
    • Coordinate shift operations as needed
    • Ensures the timely and accurate completion and processing of documents..
    • Directs and oversees duties performed by staff. Delegates work assignments and ensures tasks are completed.
    • Reviews and approves releases and conducts quality assurance reviews to ensure accuracy.
    • Assists personnel with interpretation of court orders regarding sentencing, bonds, releases and other instructions from the court.
    • Prepares various reports to include memos to the Judges.
    • Completes and submits payroll information for processing as directed.
    • Serves as a point of contact with the Courts, judges bondsmen, attorneys, and outside agencies.
    • Assists with the review and development of policies and procedures and trains staff.
    • Interviews inmates and conducts research to validate information.
    • Processes inmate identification information via the Automated Fingerprint Identification System.
    • Acts as a liaison with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to resolve identification issues.
    • Assists internal and external entities to resolve issues and ensure accurate processing of inmates.
    • Conducts shift briefings and completes daily shift reports.
    • Conducts counseling sessions with staff.
    • Assists as directed with annual performance evaluations.
    • Assist the Shift Supervisor as directed
    • Performs other related duties as required.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

Bachelors degree from an accredited institution and two (2) years of experience in criminal justice, public administration, social services, or a closely related field. Professional work experience in criminal justice, public administration, social services, or a closely related field may be substituted for up to two years of the required education on a year for year basis.

Must obtain and maintain FCIC/NCIC certification within three months of employment.

Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain Florida Notary Public Certification within three months of promotion or hire.

Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Social Services, or a closely related field.
