General Functions |
|
This position will be responsible for the management of department initiatives and objectives to achieve and maintain state, federal and national accreditations.
Work is performed under the general direction of the Support Services Division Major. Performance is reviewed through conferences, observation, reports, meetings and results achieved. |

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
- Manages the departmental/agency processes and initiatives to achieve and maintain federal, state, and national accreditations. Oversee assessments, audits and inspections of department records and operations to evaluate the status of compliance with policies and procedures, state and national standards and prepare report findings for the Corrections Management Team.
- Conducts accreditation standard file reviews in PowerDMS for regulatory compliance, proofs of compliance, accuracy and quality of content.
- Directs and coordinates Accreditation Support Team meetings consisting of division/unit representatives designated by division managers and Executive Management Team to facilitate the development and review of department policies and procedures. Responsible for ensuring all policies, procedures and standard operating procedures are reviewed annually.
- Prepares and submits correspondence and reports to include but not limited to the American Correction Association (ACA), Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission (FCAC), Florida Model Jail Standards (FMJS) jail inspectors, the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) and oversees the preparation and submittal of correspondence and reports to National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) and ensures internal communication with staff is established regrading inquires related to department standards, policies, and procedures.
- Participates in audits and inspections.
- Provides consultation on standards interpretation upon request.
- Manages, facilitates and coordinates of Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) critical incidents, issues, training needs, dissemination of new updates and implementation of new programs, policies and procedures directly impacting the Corrections Department.
- Conducts in-depth studies and analysis on state and nationally recognized jail and community corrections standards to determine areas of knowledge and special expertise warranted in the development of agency policy and procedures.
- Oversees the Inmate Grievance policies and procedures to ensure the appropriate handling of inmate grievance written responses and internal investigations.
- Facilitates and manages reports with detailed analysis of collected data on submitted grievances and data related to sexual abuse incidents within the Department.
- Supervises, coaches, directs and evaluates subordinates through effective communication, delegation, and follow-up. Responsible for the completion of employee performance evaluations and discipline.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and four (4) years of experience in an administrative or management capacity in a corrections setting or equivalent related work experience in accreditation, to include two (2) years of supervisory experience. In lieu of the degree requirements additional relevant experience may be substituted on a year for year experience. |

Preferences |
|
A degree in Criminal Justice, Corrections Behavioral or Social Services, Business or Public Administration or a closely related field.
Experience that demonstrates an understanding of PREA to compare the requirements to a facility's operations.
Experience requiring interpretation and application of policies and procedures and collection |
