General Functions |
|
Performs responsible work supervising and directing shift personnel engaged in providing the safe custody and care of inmates. Act as liaison between the Corrections Officer and upper management. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a Correctional Sergeant. |

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
- Enforces Orange County rules and regulations and federal, state and local law regarding performance of duties and operational compliance by all subordinate personnel.
- Supervises and directs the work of Correctional Officers on specific shifts.
- Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of performance evaluations for Correctional Officers.
- Conducts facility inspections to ensure secure confinement of inmates.
- Participates and/or chairs inmate disciplinary boards.
- Investigates facility incidents.
- Initiates and/or reviews disciplinary actions which may be exercised against personnel and inmates.
- Receives, reviews, processes and/or submits a variety of documents, records and reports such as logs, general memos, incident and shift reports.
- Acquires knowledge of emergency plans and procedures, maintains emergency equipment and trans Correctional Officers in each area as required.
- Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
High school graduate or equivalent and three years experience as an Orange County Correctional Officer.
Must possess Florida Correctional Officer certification. Must be able to work all shifts, weekends and holidays. Must be able to complete all annual training required to maintain certification or as required by the Orange County Corrections Department. Performance evaluations must be on target or above during the previous calendar year (date will be specified in position posting). Must not have disciplinary action exceeding a written reprimand during the previous calendar year (date will be specified in position posting). |
