General Functions |
|
The Director will supervise staff and work with agencies in the community to implement the Coalitions strategic plan.
The overall purpose is to provide efficient, effective prevention strategies and initiatives that will prevent and reduce substance use among our youth, young adults and our community at-large. This will be achieved by implementing environmental strategies and evidence-based practices focused on, education, prevention, enforcement, treatment and recovery support strategies. In addition, the Coalition will work closely with community providers in the areas of prevention, enforcement and treatment providing ongoing education and training.

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
- Plans and coordinates monthly and quarterly Coalition committee meeting.
- Attends and works with numerous committees involving elementary, secondary and higher education, faith-based organizations, substance abuse prevention providers, law enforcement, healthcare and treatment providers to implement the Coalition's strategic plan.
- Plans and coordinates conferences, trainings and community events.
- Develops strategies to increase community awareness on substance abuse issues, prevention programs, and activities and has the ability to communicate and execute these ideas.
- Attends community meetings to promote Coalition activities, recruit new members, and participates on numerous community boards.
- Develops and presents drug-related topics to civic organizations and Neighborhood Associations.
- Maintains statistical data, complies and monitors latest trends in substance use and health related issues.
- Manages budget, monitors contractual services and programs for cost effectiveness.
- Prepares reports and briefings for distribution in the community.
- Effectively coordinates and manages specialized task forces and workgroups on drug-related issues
- Acts as a liaison between law enforcement, corrections and treatment providers to develop strategies to reduce substance abuse.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution in Social Work, Criminal Justice,
Public Administration or Human Services. Five (5) years of professional experience involving program management, and mobilizing community organizations to prevent and reduce substance use.

Preferences |
|
Experience in substance abuse prevention.
Masters Degree in Social Work, Human Services or similar field of study.
Experience in , volunteer coordination, public speaking, working with law enforcement and building relationships with community organizations and managing a budget and grant programs
