DEVELOPMENT SERVICES SUPERVISOR

General Functions
   This position is responsible for professional, technical, administrative and supervisory work involving activities of one or more of the following functional areas: Public Notification, Public Records Management, Customer Assistance and Concurrency Management. This is specialized work providing supervisory and senior technical support in the coordination of various activities and services related to the County land development process. This position supervises a program units within a division and is responsible for meeting the performance goals of the specific programs.

Work is performed with considerable independence under the general supervision of the Development Services Administrator.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Supervises unit staff in the performance of their specific duties; prioritizes, assigns and monitors tasks and projects.
  • Ensures compliance with County ordinances with regard to land development activities.
  • Manages the processing of land development related records, including plans, applications, notifications and documents.
  • Supervises quality control inspections or audits on land development records.
  • Supervises and/or participates in the preparation of research, trend and statistical analysis on land development related records and/or the dissemination of related reports, publications, digital media and public announcements.
  • Coordinates section's activities with other department sections to ensure compatibility and makes recommendations and/or presentations to various County advisory committees.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the section in responding to customer problems and needs and is responsible for improving customer satisfaction with the section's products and services.
  • Performs administrative supervisory responsibilities to include disciplining, training, counseling, and evaluating all assigned staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Public or Business Administration, or a closely related field and five years of experience in developmental regulatory work in records and process management or a related field. A Master's Degree may be substituted for two years of experience. At least two years must be supervisory experience.

Ability to coordinate with other Departments/agencies to meet management priorities related to land development information and customer service.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with the general public and elected officials regarding assigned Department project and process operations.
