DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

General Functions
   Provides highly technical and supervisory-level direction to major work elements of the section for interpreting and administering land development codes, zoning codes, and subdivision regulations. Coordinates and manages the review and analysis of complex land use developments. Directs and coordinates the compilation of information and the development of formal planning presentations for various planning boards and groups.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Conducts complex independent research and analysis of land use and development plans for compliance with land development, zoning and subdivision regulations, Orange County BCC conditions of approval and developments orders.
  • Assists Chief Planner in implementing procedures and techniques for gathering necessary planning data and program implementation. Makes written recommendations regarding changes in zoning, future land use development, DRI subdivision plans, plats, annexations, land use conditions, Development Orders and Planned Development approval conditions.
  • Prepares detailed graphic plans, aerials, and tax maps for formal presentation of land development proposals.
  • Coordinates and manages report processing and ensures that research, reports and analysis documents are conducted and completed according to established standards in the section.
  • Assists the general public with Planning-related questions and provides superior customer service.
  • Assists the Chief in developing and compiling information for the development of the section work programs. Manages work programs as assigned.
  • Trains section staff on various work elements related to Development Review.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Masters degree in Planning, Public Administration, Engineering, Geography, Physical Science or closely related field and one (1) year of experience in planning and/or zoning fields; or Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Public Administration, Engineering, Geography, Statistics, Physical Science or closely related field and three (3) years of experience in planning and/or zoning fields; or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
