This is administrative and supervisory work in the investigation and resolution of consumer complaints.
The incumbent is responsible for the administrative and technical supervision of subordinate staff investigators engaged in complaint resolution relating to various consumer protections. Uses independent judgment in the supervision of subordinate staff as well as tact and diplomacy in the interpretation of the complaints to attorneys, consumers and various representatives of the business community. Direction is received through the Board of County Commissioners in close conjunction with the State Attorneys Office.

| Representative Duties /Assignments |

- Plans, coordinates and supervises the work of a staff or investigators in the investigation and resolution of consumer complaints.
- Supervises the preparation of cases for prosecution; prepares and properly documents evidence of violation; testifies regarding violation as required. Confers with superiors regarding amendments or changes in departmental policy or procedures.
- Reviews employee performance evaluations and establishes performance standards, discusses work-related problems with employees as needed; recommends promotions or disciplinary actions.
- Prepares recommendations for personnel and equipment budgetary needs for the department; receives reports of equipment malfunction and initiates request for maintenance and repair.
- Supervises the preparation of, or prepares narrative and statistical management reports reflecting investigation activity, workload data or other information.
- Selects new employees for departmental assignment; conducts training relating to statutes and departmental regulations to subordinate staff.
- Maintains contact with local chamber of commerce, merchant and manufacturer associations; attends conferences with various organizations and civic groups to explain aspects of consumer protection.
- Performs related work as required.

| Minimum Qualifications |
| |
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelors' Degree in Business or Public Administration and three years' progressively responsible administrative or professional experience; or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
