CONSUMER INVESTIGATOR

General Functions
  

A Consumer Investigator endeavors to provide residents the resources to safeguard against unfair, deceptive, and fraudulent business practices. Specifically, the position is part of a team conducting trainings and outreach regarding consumer protection, receiving complaints of alleged unfair/deceptive acts, and seeking to gain compliance with Chapter 35 of the Orange County Code regarding vehicle immobilization devices and trespass towing requirements.

 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Conduct trainings and outreach regarding consumer protection.
  • Coordinate the receipt, research, and disposition of a wide variety of consumer complaints.
  • Make recommendations regarding settlement or resolution of complaints.
  • Seek to gain compliance with Chapter 35 of the Orange County Code regarding vehicle immobilization devices and trespass towing requirements, as well as other county code chapters as necessary
  • May be required to staff the Orange County Emergency Operations Center during an emergency
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Political Science, or a closely related field and two years of experience working with residents and project/program coordination; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Operator's License.

 
Preferences
   Experience working in a regulatory/compliance setting.
