Provides training, educational experiences and socialization through the Home Visitation Program for Head Start parents and children.
Distinguishing Characteristics of Work
This is routine social work involving the visiting in the home and the training of the child and parent in basic education and health needs.
An employee assigned to a position allocated to this class of work is responsible for the provision of training on health and education matters of parent and child through home visitation.
General supervision is received from the Supervising Teacher and Education Director and is reviewed through conferences, reports and results achieved.

| Representative Duties /Assignments |
| |
- Assess educational needs of children three times during school year.
- Establish bi-annual learning goals and prepare weekly lesson plans with assistance of parents.
- Plan group socialization experiences and field trips with parents through close coordination with Supervising Teachers and Social Services/Parent Involvement Supervisor.
- Provide materials and instructions in health, nutrition and basic child development and parents.
- Assist with recruitment and enrollment of children for Home Base Program.
- Transport children and parents to necessary program functions.
- Complete forms necessary to accomplish individual weekly home visits.
- Inform parents of all pertinent program information and activities.
- Attend staff and parent meetings, in-service sessions and workshops.
- Assist Supervising Teacher with Home Base record keeping and training of Home Visitor I.
- Performs other related duties as required.

| Minimum Qualifications |
| |
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Other closely related bachelor degree in the social sciences may be substituted with documentation of a minimum of twelve semester hours of early childhood coursework.
Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development and two years experience in Head Start may substitute for a Bachelor’s degree.
