| General Functions |
| |
Assists in executing the home-based educational and support programs of the Youth & Family Services Division. This is fieldwork in counseling, educating and supporting economically disadvantaged homemakers and families. The employee is assigned to a geographical area and is responsible for working independently in counseling and in teaching a variety of home and family management skills.
Work is performed under the supervision of an assigned supervisor and is reviewed through observations, conferences, reports and results achieved.

| Representative Duties /Assignments |

- Contacts and counsels low and moderate income homemakers and families on a variety of problems such as: selection, use and care of home equipment and furnishings; storage, selection and care of clothing; health and sanitation habits; food and nutrition; consumer education; financial management; and parenting and child-rearing skills.
- Conducts small workshops, classes and counseling; visits in homes.
- Maintains current narrative records of contacts.
- Prepares regular activity reports.

| Minimum Qualifications |

High School graduate or equivalent and three years of educational or formal child-care experience. Experience may be paid or volunteer. College education may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
Must provide own transportation for use on field trips. Compensation will be provided on a mileage basis. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License. Some evenings and weekends may be required.
Must be able to demonstrate basic proficiency in word processing functions, preferably Microsoft Word and email functions.
Selected applicant may be subject to a background screening and fingerprinting for which he/she must bear the cost and must obtain favorable screening results in order to obtain employment.
