MIS COORDINATOR (CONVENTION CTR)

General Functions
   Coordinates the technological needs of the division to include standardization of personal computers and software; managing and coordinating the design of local area networks (LAN); troubleshooting and repairing LANs; overseeing the WEB page maintenance; and overseeing the implementation of necessary training sessions for system users.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Develops long and short range plans for the Division Management Information Systems (M.I.S.) needs, including cost estimates and resources required.
  • Analyzes existing data processing systems and researches new applications; makes recommendations, and implements any necessary changes or redesign of the system(s). Coordinates with the Division users and staff, Division of Information Technologies staff and vendors to ensure timely completion and compliance of all tasks involved in the implementation of systems and subsystems. Schedules and/or performs maintenance on, or installation of, systems hardware and software as needed.
  • Develops cost analysis for all proposed and existing systems and services, and maintains cost records by functional area for each data processing project. Provides project status to the Division management team through written reports, meetings and presentations.
  • Performs systems administration duties for the Division computing systems (i.e.; add users - LAN, review access levels - LAN, troubleshoot problems, etc.). Provides technical expertise in specialty LAN techniques unique to the Division.
  • Installs and programs LAN nodes, tests and evaluates functions. Studies and learns new LAN technologies and designs their successful integration into the existing system. Guides staff in complying with LAN procedures, practices, and projects. Coordinates and facilitates systems training and computer access, and ensures documentation is sufficient for the users to perform their jobs.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a closely related field and three years of experience in information management, systems administration, LAN administration or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
