| General Functions |
| |
Highly responsible professional, engineering and supervisory work encompassing traffic engineering projects and operations in Orange County. This position acts in the official capacity of County Traffic Engineer. Work is performed under the general supervision and direction of the Traffic Engineering Manager and is reviewed through observations, conferences, reports and results achieved. |

| Representative Duties /Assignments |
| |
- Assists in overseeing the day-to-day administration of traffic operations in the Traffic Engineering Division.
- Reviews the work of staff for completeness and accuracy, offers advice and assistance as needed and ensures adherence to codes, standards, laws, regulations, etc.
- Makes technical recommendations by reviewing and evaluating technical reports and plans prepared by staff.
- Conducts independent traffic studies and observations to determine feasibility of proposed projects.
- Formulates short and long-term capital improvement project plans. Prepares operating / CIP budgets and monitors implementation.
- Coordinates County projects with other governmental agencies, private contractors, consultants, and utilities.
- Participates in Department / Division meetings and represents the Division at meetings with citizens and other governmental agencies, preparing reports and correspondence in response to citizen and Commissioner requests.
Assumes the role of the Division Manager in his/her absence.

| Minimum Qualifications |
| |
Graduation with Bachelor's degree in Engineering and five years of progressively responsible experience in traffic and transportation engineering, to include two years of supervisory experience. A Master's degree in engineering may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
Must be able to obtain registration by the State of Florida, Board of Professional Engineers as a professional engineer within six months of hire. |
