TRANSPORTATION SUPERVISOR

General Functions
   This position manages and provides direction for all transit related programs for the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC), assuring compliance with the Orange County goals and objectives. This person is responsible for all supervisory and administrative duties directing the transportation functions on Convention Center roadways and within the Convention district. Position is responsible and accountable for the efficient management of Convention Center traffic and strategic regionalized management of transportation, parking, signage and freight dock initiatives. In addition, person must work closely with the OCCC Security Section to ensure the safety and security of the convention center complex. Also, they must support the mission of the Security and Transporaiton Division by developing, implementing and maintaining policies and procedures for life safety, fire detection systems, vehicular traffic circulation control, and physical security for the Orange County Convention Center attendees, clients, guests and employees.

Work is performed with considerable independence and requires excellent communication, collaboration, coordination, organziational and time management skills.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Supervises full-time and part-time traffic and dock personnel who support the transportation functions at the OCCC to include all traffic and freight dock operations, ground transportation (bus shuttling and taxi services), and; managing external directional signage.
  • Oversees freight dock operations, ensuring policy compliance and enforcing security and fire/safety regulations.
  • Directs current and future transportation planning initiatives with Florida Department of Tranporation (FDOT), Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise, Orange County Public Works Department and other external agencies.
  • Oversees liaison and coordination of transit planning and intermodal program activities with planning organizations, local transit authority, planning councils, representatives of other state agencies, local governments, consultants and the general public.
  • Represents the OCCC Executive Director and General Manager at all internal and external transportation related meetings germane to Convention Center operations (to include client site visits, pre and post-convention meetings, and planning meetings.
  • Works with members of the industry, local County and State agencies and various Departments within Orange County to formulate policies, procedures and programs relating to transportation issues affecting the Convention Center.
  • Administers and controls a multi-million dynamic messaging system (DMS) for parking and freight operations.
  • Reviews and approves all external transportation plans and responds to customer requests.
  • Advises clients of optimal transportation plans to best facilitate vehicular and pedestrian traffic during event activity.
  • Supervises and provides techinical and operational guidance to all transportation staff.
  • Oversees vehicles for hire/taxi operation and permitting process for the Convention Center.
  • Prepares and manages the annual operating budget for the transportation section.
  • Conducts presentations and transportation briefings to clients and senior management staff.
  • Meets the Center of Hospitality (CoH) standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Public Administration, Transportation Management, Planning, or closely related field and five years of experience in transportation planning or a transportation engineering related area. Three years of experience must be in a leadership role

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and possess a valid Florida Driver’s License within six months of hire.
