PLANNER

FLSA Status: Exempt 

General Functions
   Performs advanced, professional planning work for Orange County. Under limited supervision, conducts research, and prepares and presents staff recommendations to various boards regarding land development issues. An employee working in this capacity may be involved in any of the following. Preparing staff reports for amendments to the Comprehensive Policy Plan (CPP), evaluating and updating various CPP elements, collecting and analyzing data and preparing special studies and projects as assigned. May involve reviewing and processing staff reports for rezoning and developing land development regulations, and participating in special area or neighborhood studies. Responding to citizen inquires regarding land use/development regulations and policies and procedures, attending meetings with special interest groups to negotiate and reconcile differences between development, community and homeowner groups, and educating technical stall and citizens regarding newly adopted regulations.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Master’s degree in Planning or closely related field and one year of experience in Urban Planning or graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Planning or a closely related field and three years of experience in Urban Planning.

Strong writing, presentation, computer and analytical skills.
